Painting Commisions & Copies

Have you ever wanted to own a painting you love, but were unable to acquire the original for reasons of availability, cost, or provenance? For those who can tell the difference between a painted original and a purely digital reproduction, we offer a solution: faithful, hand-painted copies of old master paintings, executed either as an optical copy, replicating the visual appearance of the original, or as a technical copy, reproducing the original materials, layering, and working methods as closely as possible.

We also undertake commissioned portraits, including half-figure and full-figure compositions, as well as family portraits, painted individually to the client’s wishes.

We are currently preparing a gallery of showcases for you — check back soon.

Optical Copy vs. Technical Copy

An optical copy reproduces the visual appearance of the original painting, composition, colour, tone, and surface effect to an extent, using modern, readily available artist materials. This is the faster and more economical option, typically requiring a shorter production time, as the focus is on achieving a convincing likeness rather than replicating the original’s exact material structure.

A technical (technological) copy goes further, aiming to reproduce the original work’s materials and construction as closely as possible, including historically accurate pigments, binding media, ground preparation, and layering technique, based on research into the period and the artist’s known working method. This requires significantly more preparatory research, specialized or hand-prepared materials, and a considerably longer execution time, which is reflected in a higher price. Technical copies are typically sought for study purposes, museum reference pieces, or by clients seeking the closest possible material fidelity to the original.

Stylized & Personalized Portraits

Beyond traditional portrait commissions, we also offer a more playful approach. Reimagining you, or someone close to you, within a painted scene of your choosing.

Historical style portraits
Your likeness, or that of a family member or friend, painted in the style and setting of a historical period, following the composition, dress, and painting technique of a chosen era or master. A striking and personal way to see yourself as part of art history.

Imaginative & fantasy portraits
A completely invented scene built around your likeness, placed in a world of your choosing, whether a fantasy realm, a favourite game’s setting, or any imagined environment you have in mind. Painted entirely by hand, using the same traditional techniques and materials as our other commissioned work.

Each piece is discussed individually with the client beforehand, from the reference material used to the desired style, setting, and level of detail.

Desired completion date

Please keep in mind that a commissioned oil painting requires time not only for painting, but also for the natural drying and curing of the oil paint. While individual layers may become touch-dry within days or weeks, the deeper curing process takes considerably longer. Final varnishing can only be carried out once the painting has sufficiently dried and cured.

For this reason, please allow a minimum of approximately 6 months for the complete process, including painting, drying, curing, and final varnishing. In some cases, depending on the size, technique, and complexity of the work, the process may be completed sooner. Larger or more complex works may require additional time. Please take this into consideration when providing your desired completion date.
