Decorative Frames

The conservation and restoration of decorative frames addresses both the structural stability of the wooden or composite support and the condition of its decorative surface, whether gilded, painted, or ornamented. Treatments may include structural repair and reinforcement of joints and corners, consolidation of loose gesso and gilding, cleaning and removal of aged varnishes or non-original overpaint, and reconstruction of missing ornamental elements.

Each frame is assessed individually, with attention to preserving original gilding technique and decorative detail, and with the aim of ensuring structural stability while maintaining material authenticity.
