Stav díla před restaurováním
The painting presents an extremely heavy accumulation of surface dirt, significantly obscuring the original tonal values. Numerous fly specks are distributed across the paint surface. The canvas support shows several perforations or tears, along with pronounced planar deformations, most clearly revealed under raking light examination, indicating a loss of tension and structural stability within the support. The paint and ground layers exhibit localized areas of instability, with loose and lifting paint requiring consolidation prior to further treatment. The surface also shows scattered abrasions, consistent with prior handling and cleaning, resulting in losses of the original paint film in affected areas.
Stav díla po restaurování
Surface dirt and grime have been removed, restoring the painting’s rich original tonal values. Fly specks, which had become firmly embedded within the paint structure, were carefully removed by hand, one by one. Canvas tears have been mended and the support reinforced. Planar distortions in the canvas have been corrected through slow, controlled tension adjustment, restoring the support to a flat, stable plane. Areas of paint and ground loss have been filled and retouched using reversible, restoration-grade resin colours, and a final protective varnish layer has been applied.
